It's been quite a while since I wrote, but think about it often. I check a friend's blog every so often, hoping she has written. Disappointment when she hasn't, happiness when she has!
I was standing in line at the post office the other day and the woman behind me struck up a conversation to pass the time. She said she was 60, turning 61 in January, and liked to break up the boredom people experience in everyday life. She told a couple of jokes ( I reminded her we were in mixed company)and I laughed, as did the woman in front of me. I think everyone else tried to ignore her, but it wasn't easy as she had a beautiful clear voice and spoke very well, an educated woman.
She talked about dressing up as a clown, with several layers of clothes on and going to a public place to enliven the day by pretending to disrobe, always having another layer on underneath!
She talked about having gone to South America in the 70's (1975 was her favorite year) and learning about shamanism, buddhism and peyote and taking lessons from Terence McKenna and learning to live in the moment and enjoy life. To see beauty in everything and not be afraid of experiences.
All of that in about 10 minutes standing in line at the post office. It made my day! I still feel excited about her and am so glad I was open enough to listen to her and engage in conversation with her. What a neat lady.
Some would think her eccentric, and maybe she is, but I think I would strive to be like her if I made the effort. How exciting to be an interesting person and not afraid to enliven the world in an everyday way

What a wonderful woman! And funny :). It's a real skill to be flamboyant and a whole lot of fun to be around.
Isn't is great when you can meet such energising people! I love when people spread happiness.
